ABRASIVES GRAINS
The raw abrasive material are provided with different grits.
The dimension of the grit is a very important variable in the grinding process since it contributes to the level of finishing of the product. Also, it partially affects the level of porosity and compactness of the abrasive tool influencing the structure and the hardness.
The dimesion of the grit is defined by a number that corresponds to the number of grits that are on an inch (eg. Grit 36 means that the grit's dimesion is 1/36 of 2.54 cm). These are the grits that we mostly use (dimension of the grain):
Very thick | Thick | Medium | Fine | Very fine |
8 | 14 | 30 | 70 | 240 |
10 | 16 | 36 | 80 | 280 |
